Our Story
Wynn for Women: Support Through Breast Cancer Recovery
In February 2022, I was diagnosed with HER2-positive, ER-negative malignant breast cancer. Just a few months later, in May, I underwent surgery to remove the tumor, along with a bilateral breast reduction that reached 2 cm from the pectoralis major. By July, I had completed 20 rounds of radiation therapy.
Through it all, I was incredibly fortunate. I had unconditional love, support, and resources from my family, friends, and community. I was surrounded by exceptional medical professionals. I had a tribe.
But even with all of that, there was so much I didn’t know — and so many unexpected needs. How do I shower after surgery? How do I lift my arms, sleep comfortably, or find clothing that won’t cause pain? What kind of hypoallergenic soap is safe to use? What bra will I need — and why is it called a surgical vest?
Beyond the physical recovery, I discovered the hidden costs and logistics of breast cancer that no one talks about. I was lucky enough to afford the supplies I needed. But so many women are not.
No one fighting for their life should have to choose between buying a $60 surgical vest or paying the electric bill.
That’s why I started Wynn for Women — to provide support and relief to women going into breast cancer surgery. Our vision began with a simple idea: a care box filled with thoughtful, essential items that can make a real difference during recovery.
These boxes are available to any woman — regardless of income, background, or insurance — who needs one.
